We take care of moss and algae on all surfaces, including roofs, patios, paving, decking, walls and slipways.

For ground surfaces -

We’ll use different aproaches to control moss and algae depending on where it is. For example, we use variable pressure-washers with Spinaclean attachments for patios, decking and slipways. This ensures dirt and water doesn’t end up flying all over the place and we don’t just move the problem from one place to another. Once the cleaning is completed we’ll apply an appropriate biocide to deter the return of moss, algae and lichen for many months to come.

For walls and buildings -

On walls, windows, soffits and fascias prevention is better than cure! Whenever possible, walls should be treated with a biocide before moss and algae become either a visual or physical problem. We use a soft-clean aproach similar to our water-fed pole system for window cleaning, brushing the surfaces down with an appropriate biocide. This protects the surfaces into the future and prevents moss or algae from ever getting a foot-hold in the first place, if undertaken at least twice-yearly. It’ll reduce the need to have your property re-pained quite so often and more importantly, prevent moss from exploding render or finding its way into unprotected brickwork and cladding.

Where there’s an existing build up of moss or algae on a building we’ll do an initial soft-wash with a biocide to kill everything off and then let nature take its course for a while before repeating the soft-wash a second time. We generally won’t power-wash the walls down as this only forces organic matter further into the surface where there may be existing cracks etc. Power washing walls (and roofs) looks better in the short term but can lead to bigger problems in the longer term. Instead, we reccomend a second visit after the initial treatment to wash the walls down again, gently removing as much moss and algae as possible with a brush.

Each property is individual so please get in touch for an initial chat, even if its just for a little advice. We’re here to help.
